RICHARD BEARE RESIGNS

Richard Beare, the circuit's master of ceremonies for the last two years, has resigned.

Beare was seen behind the mic at Pot Black last week but contacted World Snooker a few days later to say he did not wish to continue.

This would be a good chance for them to bite the bullet and ring up the much missed Alan Hughes, who did the job for two decades before resigning after being expected to do more work for less money.

Of all the people who have done the job at various tournaments over the years, Alan was easily the best.

That is disappointing news about Richard Beare I thought he was an excellent replacement for Alan Hughes.
I have met Richard on a few occasions at the snooker and bowls where he is the compere for the World Bowls Tour and he was always approachable and very popular amongst fans I spoke to.
Please assuare me that World Snooker aren't going to recruit John McDonald who comperes for the Premier League.
One alternative could be your colleague at Eurosport, Mike Smith. I seen him compere a Premier League game last season when John McDonald was working at the World 9 Ball Pool Championships and he was good. He is also very knowledgable and passionate about the game.

Yes, Mike was MC back at the 1984 World Championship although it might be a little tricky to announce the players and then leg it upstairs to the commentary box!
